We read the “buy it for life” lists so you don’t have to.

Tested roundups. Iconic-product lists. Life-changing buys. Sales charts. Then we counted one thing: how many websites name each product.

The result is 135 durable products, named by 161 websites. One rule runs it all. A website counts once per product, however many articles it wrote. Sales charts count half, because they show what sells, not what lasts. Full rules are on How we count. Last recount: Nov 4, 2026.

First, the odd part: they barely agree

The most-named product is on 21 of the 161 websites. Only 11 of the 135 products reach 10 lists. Most, 88 of them, are named by three to five.

The typical pick on this site is named by 4 lists. So when a product hits 10 or more, that’s rare. Here is the top ten.

10 Red Wing Leather Work BootsAmazon › 10 lists 10 $100-$300

The order is by Score, not by raw list count. Two of KitchenAid’s 18 are sales charts, which count half. That’s why it scores 17.

One tie. Stanley Classic Vacuum Bottle also scores 10, with 10 lists. The site breaks ties A to Z, so Red Wing takes tenth. Stanley is right behind.
